The Duchess of Kent made very few rare public appearances in the final years before her death, yet her final royal engagements showed her dedication to her husband, the Duke of Kent.

Katharine, 90, who did not attend the Coronation of King Charles III or the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, was last seen photographed in public when she and her husband watched a performance by three pipers from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys) to mark the Duke's 89 th birthday in October 2024.

At the time, Katharine could be seen sitting in a wheelchair, draped in a cosy blue blanket whilst her husband Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, looked on.
