"A lot of these guys just feel invincible. Once 3 a.m. hits and the streets are quiet, they can go in and wreak havoc without consequence."

There has been a rash of violent robberies committed at cannabis stores throughout Calgary in the last few years, despite a regulatory change in 2022 that was supposed to curb such crimes.

And according to police, many of the recent perpetrators have been youth.

In late August, the Calgary Police Service issued a news release after two separate armed robberies were committed at cannabis outlets in the city’s northwest.
