Monique's team offers nail, hair and lash services.

The owner of a Midlands beauty salon has looked back on her journey five years after launching her establishment during the peak of lockdown. Monique Murphy, who runs Monique Hair and Beauty in Allenton, Derbyshire described opening her salon as "one of the best decisions she has ever made" as the beauty parlour marks its fifth anniversary on September 5.

"Lockdown was a tough time for everyone," Monique said. "No one knew what was going to happen, tomorrow wasn't promised. That is why I decided to open the salon , it was something I always wanted to do, but never had the push to."
