LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Two people are in the hospital after a crash on Westport Road Friday, Sept. 5.

Louisville police said the wreck happened around 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Westport Road and the Gene Snyder. An initial investigation showed a truck was trying to make a left turn onto I-265 and turned into the path of a motorcycle. The motorcyclist reportedly couldn’t maneuver out of the way and crashed into the truck.

Police said the driver of the truck then got out and fled the scene on foot.

Both people on the motorcycle were taken to UofL Hospital. On Sunday, Sept. 7, the passenger died. The driver’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

An LMPD spokesperson said neither of driver or the passenger appeared to have been wearing helmets during the crash.
