LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville is now one step closer to having an independent monitor that will provide oversight of Metro Government and LMPD’s progress toward implementing police reform.

On Tuesday, Mayor Craig Greenberg announced the city has narrowed down the search for an independent monitor to two finalists.

Greenberg said the two finalists have come from different national firms, without locations in Louisville.

He said that there are people on each team that are familiar with the Metro and served as independent monitors in other cities that had consent decrees.

Greenberg said both are “incredibly qualified and bring their own set of strengths”.
