JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Appalachia Service Project (ASP) will host its ninth annual Race to Build event on Sept. 11-13.
The event takes place during the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway and will build three homes for Tri-Cities families.
Four college teams, Iowa State University, Kent State University, Appalachian State University and the University of Nebraska, compete over the three days to build the fastest, safest and most efficient new homes.
“This event builds more than just homes; it restores stability and hope for families who need it most,” Melisa Winburn, President and CEO of ASP, said in a news release. “Race to Build demonstrates the power of what’s possible when communities, students, partners, and more come together in service.”
