RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. —
A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper was hit by a DUI suspect while working a traffic stop on Sunday morning.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department said the trooper was on the side of Interstate 77 just after midnight and was hit by a separate vehicle that was driving on the interstate. Latest Forecast

The trooper was taken to the hospital by EMS.
The vehicle that hit the trooper did stop and the driver, Alex Bookert, 35, showed signs of impairment, authorities said.
