The Big 12 power rankings are published weekly by the Hotline throughout the regular season. They are the result of a deep dive into the analytics, an assessment of subjective factors and, when necessary, flips of the coin. No conference has more parity. The parity leads to chaos, and the chaos creates an endlessly compelling product that is not always easy to unscramble.

The wildest, most unpredictable conference in the land just experienced a month’s worth of turbulence in a single Saturday.

And on balance, it was less than ideal for the Big 12.

The weekend started well, with Iowa State edging in-state rival Iowa on a late field goal, and continued 39 minutes later when Baylor rallied from 14 down in the fourth quarter to outlast SMU in double overtime.
