Alaska State Troopers say one person has died following a crash Friday night on the Sterling Highway.

According to an AST dispatch, the collision happened at approximately 10:32 p.m. on September 5 near mile 69 of the highway, close to the Kelly and Petersen Lake access road. Alaska 511 sent out an alert just after 11:00 p.m. with a notification that the highway would be closed while emergency vehicles were in the area and authorities investigated the scene of the crash. The highway remained closed for several hours.

Troopers report that a vehicle driven by Milo Wiley was traveling southbound and attempting to pass another vehicle when it struck the rear axle of a northbound semi-truck trailer.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and performed CPR on passenger Paul Brumlow
