An elderly man was killed in an incident involving two rottweilers over the weekend, authorities say.
The L.A County Sheriff’s Department states that deputies from the Norwalk station were dispatched to the area of 166th Street and Gladstone Avenue around 6:45 a.m. Saturday on a “vicious dog” call.
Arriving deputies found one victim, an elderly man, suffering from several dog bites on his arm. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead 24 hours after the incident, LASD said.
The owner of the two dogs who attacked the 86-year-old is said to be cooperating with authorities in the investigation and was not charged or cited, officials confirmed. The dogs, however, were taken into custody by local animal control officers; their fate is not known.
