Georgia football tight end Ethan Barbour has had a prominent role with the Bulldogs earlier than most probably expected, but he was carted off the field in the 28-6 win over Austin Peay at the end of the first half injured.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound true freshman from Milton High in Alpharetta started in the opener and his blocking has helped Georgia rush for an average of 214.5 yards per game.
Barbour was injured lined up as a fullback on the last play of the first half on Saturday Sept. 6 with Georgia inches from end zone but Barbour was injured after his lower left leg was landed on after Chauncey Bowens was tripped up in the backfield. He left the field with an air cast on.
Coach Kirby Smart after the game called it “a tough ankle injury,” and called it “a bad deal.”
