Two Roma residents were arrested Friday following an investigation which resulted in the discovery of 16 people illegally present in the United States at their residence.
U.S. citizens Benigno Garcia and Sydney Seleen Serna were both charged with harboring, aiding and abetting people unlawfully present in the country, according to a criminal complaint.
On Aug. 28, Homeland Security Investigations special agents alongside Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents conducted surveillance at 289 Azalea Ave. when they observed three vehicles arrive and pick up people illegally present.
During two of these occasions, a person identified as the caretaker, Kassandra Lopez, was seen escorting the people to the vehicles.
