Victim in fatal Mission crash ID’d as Palmview High School student

The Texas Department of Public Safety said a 17-year-old is dead following a Saturday night crash in Mission.

DPS identified the teen as Latwon Oscar Uribe, of Mission.

La Joya ISD announced Sunday night that Uribe was a student at Palmview High School, with the district adding that counselors and support will be available on Monday and Tuesday for students and staff who need help processing the teen’s loss.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Latwon’s family, friends, classmates, and teachers during this very difficult time,” the district said in a statement. “The loss of a young life is heartbreaking, and we know it deeply affects our school community.”
