U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz voted in favor of the Donald Trump’s budget bill, passed in the House on May 22. She is an ardent supporter of cuts to Medicaid and SNAP benefits.
While Rep. De La Cruz proclaims in her newsletter that the bill “fully protects” funding for Medicaid and SNAP benefits, it does not. The bill proposes to cut $700 billion in Medicaid over the next 10 years and $300 billion in SNAP.
De La Cruz and her MAGA colleagues would require new work requirements to be eligible for Medicaid: 80 hours per month of work, education or service and verification (more paperwork) of eligibility for the program twice a year, rather than just once. Miss the filing deadline and you’re out.
