HARLINGEN — Whether a veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, a student feeling the weight of expectation crushing them, or a child tormented by the cruelty of social media, suicidal ideation can be a pervasive struggle for those drowning in seas of heaviness.

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and mental health agencies across the country are encouraging people to learn more about this painful topic, end the stigma, and keep open the lines of communication.

The Rio Grande Valley is no exception, and DHR Health with resources in Edinburg and Brownsville spoke to MyRGV.com about how to help.
