MADISONVILLE, Tenn. ( WVLT /Gray News) - Authorities in Tennessee say four people are facing charges after a 71-year-old woman was seriously injured in an attack by several dogs.

Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office went to a home in Madisonville on Saturday, where they found 71-year-old Mary Norwood lying on the front porch with severe cuts to her body as a result of a dog attack, according to Sheriff Tommy Jones.

Witnesses say there about 10 to 15 pit bull mix dogs involved in the attack, Jones said. The bystanders were able to corral the dogs away from the victim after the attack.

Norwood was treated on the scene before being taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for further treatment. Her condition is unknown.
