UPDATE: Monroe County Animal Control is preparing dozens of additional charges against four suspects following a dog attack that left a 71-year-old woman injured, Sheriff Tommy Jones reports.
Sheriff Jones says the four suspects will face 12 counts for dogs without rabies vaccinations and 26 counts of animal cruelty. Twenty-seven dogs were seized from the scene — including the victim’s pet, 13 adult dogs, and 13 puppies.
In addition, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is charging Ricky Lee Burris with owning a vicious dog as a felon and failing to register as a sex offender. Investigators say Burris did not meet the required reporting deadlines under Tennessee’s Sex Offender Act. He is currently on medical furlough.
