KENTUCKY, USA — The numbers are in, Kentuckians love trying their luck at the lottery.

The recent Powerball jackpot surged to $1.8 billion until a pair of tickets in Missouri and Texas split the stunning prize over the weekend.

LendingTree analysts determined how much Americans spend on lottery tickets, from a rise in overall lottery spending to which states are shelling out the most money.

The data shows Kentucky ranked 14th among states where residents spend the most on lottery tickets, with Kentuckians spending an average of $407.26, a 9.8% change from last year.

Kentucky pays out 69.7% of lottery spending in the form of winnings, with per-capita spending at $407.26 and per-capita payouts at $283.95, according to LendingTree.
