YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - Monday marked a long-standing tradition in Mahoning County as the courthouse held its Opening of Courts ceremony.
The ceremony has a dual purpose: welcoming new members into the Mahoning County Bar Association and signaling the official return to court after summer.
Historically, courts would pause proceedings during the warmer summer months, resuming in the fall when courtroom conditions were more comfortable.
New Bar Association members were recognized, and several local judges and attorneys were on hand for the annual event.
Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro says the ceremony is a good way for members of the Bar Association to meet with attorneys in the community.
