PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) - Kentucky State Police said its Pikeville Post received a 911 call after an unresponsive male in the Heller community of Pike County was found on March 1, 2025.

Police said troopers responded to Allegheny Road, discovering a man was deceased near the roadway.

The initial investigation identified the victim as Brent Wooten, 45, of Elkhorn City, according to police.

Police said Wooten had an injury to his left side and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Pike County Coroner’s Office.

Wooten’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy and to determine the exact cause of death, police said.

After further investigation, police said foul play was involved.
