MILTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - As Kyle O’Dell returned to work on Tuesday as Milton’s police chief, he was greeted by a cheering crowd.

“It feels good‚” O’Dell told WSAZ. “I live in the community. This is part of me as well, so I wanna do what I can now.”

O’Dell’s return comes amid a drawn-out dispute with Milton Mayor Shane Evans and several council members. In July, a meeting between O’Dell and Evans, along with others, resulted in O’Dell turning in his badge and gun. But there remains a debate about what exactly happened. O’Dell claims he was unjustly fired, while Evans has repeatedly maintained that O’Dell resigned.
