CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Appalachian Power plans to replace 100-year-old transmission lines on the West Side of Charleston. AEP is calling this project the Chemical-Washington Street Transmission Line Rebuild Project.
“It was built in the 1920s, and so we want to make sure that our customers have reliable power,” said Jessica Lemons, an Appalachian Power spokesperson.
The upgrades would stretch from Hanna Drive to Summit Drive.
The company hosted an open house Tuesday to address potential impacts with the community and landowners.
“On those route options, it can deviate where the existing line is and so we want those landowners that their property could possibly be impacted, we want them to reach out to us,” Lemons said.
