ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Asheville Police Department reports it is investigating after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on Monday.
Officers said they responded to Smokey Park Highway at the I-40 West on-ramp around 5:50 a.m. A motorcyclist traveling westbound on the highway collided with a Jeep Liberty traveling east and turning left onto the on-ramp, according to the preliminary investigation.
The motorcyclist was taken to Mission Hospital while the driver of the Jeep remained at the scene, police said.
Officers report the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was gathered.
