A Kentucky nurse’s maternal instincts kicked in during a recent confrontation with a drunken raccoon.

Misty Combs had arrived to work at the Letcher County Health Department in Whitesburg, Ky., when she and her co-workers noticed a panicked raccoon in the parking lot, WLEX reported.

Combs said they heard a commotion in a nearby dumpster and realized that the raccoon was attempting to rescue two of her pups that were trapped inside it.

Combs’ workplace is located next to a distillery, and she believed that the babies had consumed fermented peaches that were in the dumpster.

That’s when she knew she had to help the frantic raccoon reunite with the trashed trash pandas.
