Florida football will encounter an old friend when it faces LSU on Sept 13 at Tiger Stadium (7:30 p.m., ABC).
Former Florida Gators edge rusher and Jacksonville Bolles High standout Jack Pyburn transferred from UF to LSU during the offseason, in part due to being upset with his role on UF’s defense.
Coming off an ACL tear in 2023, the 6-foot-4, 264-pound Pyburn finished his junior season at UF in 2024 with 60 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one interception. But Pyburn felt he was being dropped into coverage too much. George Gumbs Jr. supplanted Pyburn as UF’s primary edge rusher, finishing the 2024 season with five sacks.
