The University of Kentucky approved the first step toward a new basketball practice facility Tuesday.

Champions Blue LLC , a holding company containing UK Athletics , had a Board of Governor's meeting, during which athletics director Mitch Barnhart asked for a resolution of support for a study and pre-design of a multi-use facility. This would be anchored by a basketball practice facility and include a UK Healthcare sports and orthopedic ambulatory center along with a sports medicine research component. The resolution was passed, marking the first step toward a unique collaboration between sports, medicine and education at the university.
