ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — EV sales are up right now, that was also the case in August, and according to Brad Mcareavy, the President of the Rochester Automobile Dealers Association, that's because people are rushing to get theirs, before there are no more federal tax incentives to do so.

"It probably is going to have the effect of softening the EV market for a while," said Mcareavy. "Until we can figure out how to market those vehicles in an unsubsidized market, where it just has to compete on its own."

Come September 30, consumer tax breaks on electric cars are expected to end under the "Big, Beautiful, Bill." That includes credits of up to $7,500 towards the purchase of new vehicles and $4,000 for those that are used.
