(KRON) – A ghost gun and ammunition were found after a verbal argument that escalated into an assault, according to the San Mateo Police Department.

San Mateo police officers responded to the 1600 block of Roberta Drive after being notified of an assault. Police were informed that a person was “struck in the mouth with a firearm during a verbal altercation.” The suspect then punched and kneed the victim while they were on the ground, according to San Mateo PD.

The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Jose Alvaradovasquez.

Arriving officers said they witnessed Alvaradovasquez leaving in a vehicle and pulled the car over.

Authorities found two rounds of 9mm ammunition and suspected methamphetamine, according to San Mateo PD. Alvaradovasquez was arrested for driving under the influence.
