Thousands of yellow ducks raced for the finish line through the waters off Crescent Beach Saturday (Sept. 6), in the return of Ducktona 5000.

"This was so epic," writes Khan Farhana in a post to Facebook Saturday evening. "We didn't win but had a lot of fun."

Benefiting Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 5, the fundraiser invited anyone interested to enter the race by sponsoring one or more ducks by donation.

The fundraising total for Ducktona was not immediately available; however, the event was a sell-out according to the ticket-sales page, meaning 4,650 ducks were in the water on race day.

Released en masse, the ducks "paddled" for the finish line, cheered on by onlookers from the pier and shoreline.
