LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - With four tackles in just 17 snaps, and a 55-yard interception return Saturday, Red Raider defensive lineman Skyler Gill-Howard was honored as Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.
Saturday’s turnover, which came by-way of a tipped pass from AJ Holmes, was one of the most talked-about plays in Texas Tech’s 62-14 win over Kent State.
When asked about the scoring play, Gill-Howard said it was his first time to find the end zone high school, where he played both offense and defense.
“After I caught it, everything kind of went blank. I couldn’t hear anything, I just took off! And then after that, it was foot-racing. John Curry with a great block, I don’t know if I would’ve got hawked anyways, I’m kind’ve fast, but yeah- it was a surreal moment!,” he said during Saturd
