A family escaped a house fire in southern Shenandoah County on Saturday night.
The Shenandoah County Emergency Communications Center received a call at 7:43 p.m. for a reported house fire in the 100 block of Sundance Mountain Road near New Market. The caller said everyone had evacuated the house and that flames were coming from the roof and out of the door, according to a news release from Assistant Fire Marshal Derrick Dotson. There were three adults and four children in the house at the time of the fire.
Emergency responders with New Market Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene at 7:52 p.m. to find fire from the front of the home and heavy smoke coming from the windows around the home. Firefighters brought the blaze under control around 8:30 p.m. Crews worked on salvage and overhaul for
