Shadow Defence Minister Angus Taylor has revealed a future Coalition government would look to scrap a controversial edict resulting in a sweeping ban of so-called “death iconography” in Australia’s military.
First imposed by then Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Angus Campbell, in 2018 before spreading across the military as he was promoted to Chief of Defence - the directive has seen steady effort to remove or phase out insignias and imagery deemed at odds with its “values”.
It includes the spartan helmet, skull and cross bones, grim reaper and phantom better known as the “punisher” amongst others.
