JEFFERSON PARISH, La. — Jefferson Parish leaders cut the ribbon on Amazon's brand-new same-day delivery site in Elmwood.

Inside the 150,000-square-foot facility, interconnected conveyors and robotic technology pick and pack orders in minutes. That allows Amazon to ship packages throughout the New Orleans metro from the Northshore to the Westbank in hours, not days.

"As soon as you order a package on Amazon that says it's going to come within a very short timeframe, usually in the next couple of hours, one of our Amazon robots will pick it up, bring it to one of our pick associates, we'll pack that order up for you and get it on the road," Amazon site manager Steve Grant said.
