CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles announced on Monday that there will be a stronger security presence on public transit throughout the city following a deadly stabbing that claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman .
Mayor Lyles said in a letter to Charlotte residents on Monday, Sept. 8, that, effective immediately, there would be a stronger security presence for the Blue Line platforms, and there would be increased fare enforcement.
Lyles also said that officers with Charlotte police will be increasing their patrols at key areas across the transit system.
The announcement from Lyles comes just days after CATS released video from inside one of their light rails of a brutal, random attack killing a Ukrainian woman.
