LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Justin Jones will not seek re-election to the Clark County Commission in 2026, he announced on social media Monday afternoon.
A bitter fight against a developer who eventually won approval to build houses near Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area came with a political price. A federal court magistrate's ruling that Jones deleted text messages that favored developers resulted in the county approving an $80 million settlement with the company owned by Jim Rhodes, who has been trying to build on Blue Diamond Hill for decades.
Jones also did pro bono work for Save Red Rock, a conservation group formed to stop the development.
Jones narrowly avoided disbarment, receiving a reprimand instead from the State Bar of Nevada.
