LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Questions still remain about the lack of control inside Ely State Prison on July 30, 2024, when three inmates died as a result of a fight that day. The 8 News Now Investigators obtained video showing how it all unfolded.

"It destroyed my soul," Eric Janisch, a former inmate, recalled. "I was surprised I made it out of there."

Janisch was nearing the end of serving 10 years in prison.

"Being a drug addict, basically, stole motorcycles," he said.

Janisch recalled feeling tension in the air immediately before the fight.

"You can tell when it's gonna jump off or something up cause everybody is quiet and in prison no one is quiet," he said.
