A teenager has died in hospital after being viciously mauled by her friend’s dog in New South Wales’ Hunter region.

Annalyse Blyton, 17, was attacked by a large mixed-breed dog after she visited a friend’s house on Broughton St in Singleton.

She was left with life-threatening injuries, suffering critical cuts to her head, neck and body.

The 17-year-old was put in intensive care after undergoing extensive surgery at John Hunter Hospital.

Despite the efforts from doctors and first responders, police confirmed Annalyse had died from her injuries on Monday.

Police revealed the dog was a 10-year-old, crossbreed boxer, Bull Arab, and Irish Wolfhound.

At the time people rushed in to save Annalyse and they pulled the aggressive dog away.
