WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Request for Application (RFA), seeking out proposals from U.S. companies to build and power AI data centers at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).

According to a Monday press release from the agency, this is the first solicitation released under the Trump administration to promote American AI leadership, leveraging federal land assets to quickly deploy data centers and energy generation projects. DOE claims the action will drive private sector funding, grow the nation’s AI computing capabilities, and help meet future energy demands.

Acting Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy Mike Goff promoted the President’s “aggressive” pace on AI development in the release.
