ROCKFORD, Ill. — Rockford police have arrested two suspects in a shooting that happened late Sunday night at a Rockford gas station.

18-year-old Ladavion Crawford and 20-year-old Madison Shackleford, both of Rockford, were arrested on Monday and taken to Winnebago County Jail.

Police say a 21-year-old man died from a gunshot wound. He suffered the wound near the gas station along Charles St. near 18th St.

Crawford and Shackleford were both charged with First-Degree Murder.

“I want to recognize the quick and diligent work of our team in response to last night’s murder on Charles Street,” says Chief Carla Redd. “They demonstrated professionalism and acted without delay in their response, which allowed us to move the investigation forward immediately.”
