WARD COUNTY, N.D. (KMOT) – Fire damaged a garage on Sunday night in rural Sawyer that prompted a response from several area departments, though no one was hurt.
A call came in just after 8 p.m. of a structure fire near 149th Avenue and 55th Street, according to the Ward County Sheriff’s Office.
Corp. Andrew Mathieson said the report states a vehicle and camper were fully engulfed, and the fire spread to a nearby garage within minutes.
The family was able to evacuate the home along with their pets.
The corporal said crews from Surrey, Sawyer and Velva all responded, along with the sheriff’s office and Velva Ambulance.
The fire was contained within roughly an hour.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The family was relocated for the night.
