The Hartselle community is mourning the loss of a 17-year-old student who was killed while Priceville police were in pursuit of 40-year-old Archie Hale .
Hundreds gathered at Hartselle High School Monday afternoon for a vigil honoring the student.
"When we deal with a tragedy of this sort, everyone’s upset, everyone’s sad, everyone has questions," said Hartselle High School Principal Brad Cooper.
Authorities reported that a Priceville officer tried to stop Hale for moving violations and suspicion of DUI. Hale fled, leading the officer through Hartselle, where the crash happened at the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 31. Kim Burns, the victim's cousin, shared her reaction.
