Grab your hiking boots, a new trail is coming to Huntsville, and it’s all about making the outdoors more accessible to everyone.
The brand new Tollgate Greenway being built here in Huntsville is focused on making it easier for everyone to enjoy nature.
The $1.7 million project is now officially underway. Once it’s finished, the new trail will stretch about 1.65 miles, connecting the Bankhead Parkway parking lot to Monte Sano State Park. That Bankhead lot is currently closed for construction. So if you’re heading out to hike in the meantime, you’ll need to use one of the other trailheads on Monte Sano.
City leaders and the Land Trust of North Alabama say this trail will open up more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get outside and enjoy the mountain.
