PRINCETON, WV (WVNS) - New Spay & Neuter Ordinances in Mercer County were passed in the early summer of 2025. These ordinances were put in place to try and decrease the stray animal population in the region.

For some pet parents, this may lead to them having to make hard decisions.

A resident from an apartment complex in Princeton, reached out to Mercer County Animal Shelter and Pupsavers Inc. pleading for help.

According to a Facebook post from the Pupsavers Rescue page, residents were verbally warned that if they did not spay or neuter their animals, they could face possible eviction.

This specific apartment complex is for the elderly and low-income community. Meaning they may have a more difficult time funding alterations.
