BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A major trough is making way to California over the next few days bringing cooler temperatures.

The latest probabilities have a major drop to a 20% chance or less of high temperatures of at least 85 degrees on Wednesday. In addition, Tuesday through Thursday brings a 10 to 40% chance of rain accumulation in the San Joaquin Valley with Merced and Mariposa having the highest probabilities.

The foothills will have a 10 to 30% chance of at least a tenth of an inch of rain Wednesday and Thursday.

Frontal thunderstorms also are possible over the Sierra Nevada TUesday through Thursday with a 10 to 30% chance.
