GREENE COUNTY, Mo. — On Sunday night, over 100 people gathered at a venue in Greene County, just north of Springfield, to remember Greene County Deputy Aaron Roberts, seven years after his death while in the line of duty.
Roberts passed away on September 7, 2015, after coming back from responding to a 911 hang-up call, when his car was swept away in floodwaters and drowned.
Each year, Roberts' wife Kim and their daughter Lydia hold a ceremony to remember Deputy Roberts, and light lanterns in his honor.
Kim Roberts spoke to the crowd shortly before the lanterns were lifted.
