We avoided the 80s on Monday, but the rest of this week may have you hanging up the sweater and breaking out the short sleeves as a late summer heatwave builds in later this week. Temperatures will gradually warm from day to day, reaching the 90s by Thursday.

Today will be only slightly warmer than yesterday in the low 80s. Winds will be light from the southeast at around 10 mph.

Like yesterday, there is rain and storms to our west across portions of Kansas. This rain will weaken quickly as it approaches the Missouri stateline. Despite the weakening trend, some rain may linger in Western Missouri this afternoon.
