ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - Rock Island’s downtown could soon be getting a rebrand.

Monday night, a presentation was given to city council members to consider a rebrand for Rock Island’s downtown. The naming recommendation is “Downtown Rock Island” and key factors like naming simplicity, cultural fit, future-proof, and brand equity were all considered, officials said. It’s about evolving past “The District” for a “fresh start.”

Those involved with the project said they want to focus on showcasing the melting pot of experiences that the downtown has to offer from the businesses to its people and its sights, like the colorful downtown artwork.
