Lafayette, Ind. (WLFI) — A woman in her 40s is dead after being hit by a car at the intersection of South Street and Creasy Lane in Lafayette.

The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office says the woman was trying to cross the street around 7 a.m. Monday when she was struck and died from multiple blunt force injuries. Her name has not yet been released.

Residents say this tragedy isn’t surprising. Ethan Cooper, who has lived in Lafayette for eight years, told News 18, “If you want to cross the road safely, you really can’t. There’s not a single crosswalk for pedestrians on this road in specific.”
