MURRAY – Although Gov. Andy Beshear last week warned of a possible state revenue shortfall in the current fiscal year, local state legislators said they think it’s way too early to declare any sort of budget crisis.
In his Team Kentucky update on Thursday, Beshear said he was proud that the state had experienced the three largest budget surpluses in Kentucky's history during his time in office, due in part to bringing in more revenue than projected while also providing services at a lower cost than originally planned.
“Because of that, we secured a record rainy day fund, and all three national bond rating agencies have upgraded Kentucky's credit rating,” Beshear said. “That's the first time that's happened in state history. That's a big deal. When they did these bond rating upgrades –
