Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has resigned following widespread anti-corruption protests that have erupted across the country. His resignation was confirmed by an aide amid escalating tensions and unrest.

The protests, which began over a controversial social media ban, turned violent as demonstrators set fire to the homes of several prominent political figures. This unrest marked the second consecutive day of anti-government rallies, leading to significant disruptions, including a partial closure of the international airport in Kathmandu.

Local reports and videos circulating on social media depicted protesters targeting the residences of top political leaders in and around the capital. In response to the escalating violence, authorities imposed a curfew in Kathmandu and other cities. Schools in the capital were also closed as a precautionary measure.

Among the properties set ablaze were the homes of Sher Bahadur Deuba, leader of the Nepali Congress party, President Ram Chandra Poudel, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). Additionally, a private school owned by Arzu Deuba Rana, the current foreign minister and wife of Sher Bahadur Deuba, was also targeted and set on fire.
